Adding Pages

To add a new page to Wiki, all you have to do is come up with a meaningful title, capitalize all the words and ??String Them Together Like This. Wiki automagically recognizes it as a hyperlink. You can't have numbers in wiki links, so surround these with square brackets: Services June 2002

Choose page names carefully - two, three or four words works best. Think how others might want to link to the page later and check that the name you've chosen works in different contexts. Try to be specific, so BridlingtonTrip2002 rather than ChurchTrip. However ChurchTrips would be a fine name for a page that simply listed links to all the trips we've been on.

Then you can go ahead and ??Click The Question Mark at the end of your new hyperlink, and the Wiki will give you a window for making the new page.

To link to a page using different link text, use [ link text | PageName], such as:

  • Find out [ who's who at St Matthias? | ChurchMembers ]
  • Visit the [ BBC web site | http://www.bbc.co.uk ] for more info.

NB On most PC keyboards the | is on the key to the left of 'z'

Try your page-adding skills in the safety of the Sand Box - or any other page.

For web boffins

The Wiki system purposely does not support the use of HTML tags (see Text Formatting Rules). <tags>They will just render like text.</tags> Wiki is meant to be as simple as possible to encourage use.
